Eduardo Kac will produce the first work of art to orbit in deep space. His work "Ágora", meaning Now in Portuguese and Public space in Greek, is a project begun 37 years ago by this American-Brazilian artist. Designed to embody a "potential star", its visual content in the form of a hologram of the word "Ágora" will project a laser-generated light propagating through space like a star. The trip is scheduled for late 2023, when the rocket sent by Untitled Launch Alliance (ULA) will pass the Moon and travel more than 300 million kilometers from planet Earth. Kac believes that this spectacular event will expand our vision of the concept of the contemporary work of art. Will "Ágora" open the door to a new public art space?
