"Paysages liquides" : Jacques Perconte at Perpignan, France

From 27 October to 7 January, Jacques Perconte is taking part in the group exhibition "Paysages liquides" at the Palais des Rois de Majorque in Perpignan, France. The artist Jacques Perconte, whose artistic residency was planned for 2020 as part of our "Paysages liquides" exhibition, finally came to stay with us from 21 to 31/03/2022. He criss-crossed Calce and the surrounding area to film our landscapes, his subject of work for decades. Now, back at home, the artist is working on these images to compose a work in film that the association 3C: In 2023, Calce Culture Contemporaine will hold an exhibition exclusively devoted to presenting the results of the 2022 artistic residencies in our region. The Jacques Perconte residence travelled many kilometres, from Calce to the Col de la Dona, from the Roc Redoun to the Força Réal, from Quéribus to Bugarach, with the aim of 'capturing' images of our landscapes in a new, surprising way, taking into account changes in light and the strength of the wind. During his artistic residency, he also gave a masterclass at IDEM in Le Soler on 29/03, attended by all the students from their various training courses. Four of his works were also shown on 31/03 at the Institut Jean Vigo's cinémathèque, at 2pm, in a session specially devoted to his work and attended by an interested and participative audience. The films "Avant l'effondrement du Mont Blanc" (2020), "Or / Aour" (2019), "Save my heart" (2016) and "Chuva" (2012) were shown for the first time in our department. At the same time, in Calce, we were able to see some of the prints from his latest original work "Lahntal - Balduinstein" (2022) in a number of places in the village where residents and visitors could discover a little of this artist's way of creating: the local bistro Le Presbytère, the media library, the Jean-Philippe Padié estate and the Olivier Pithon estate. These are prints taken directly from his films, with no retouching, just the compression he puts the images through. These little marvels only serve to whet our curiosity about the surprising work of this artist.
