Nikolas Chasser Skilbeck is a visual artist born in New York in 1985. His singular vision offers us a pictorial, poetic and strange world. Through different devices (4K screens, projections, building mapping, installation, holograms) and with a strong inspiration drawn from the history of art and cinema, his videos share their unique experiences of time and produce a strong atmosphere of de-reality, full of possibilities in the universe of sensations it offers to the spectators, leaving room for both peace and anxiety. Nikolas studied at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Art de Bourges where he graduated with honours. His research has led him to carry out numerous artist residencies in France and abroad (Portugal, Egypt) supported by museums, art centres and associations such as the MAC/VAL Museum in Vitry-sur-Seine or the Centre de Création Contemporaine Olivier Debré (CCC OD) in Tours. Nikolas Chasser Skilbeck has presented his work in several solo and group exhibitions in France and abroad (Israel, Portugal, Switzerland, Taiwan) including My Mind is Going at the CCC OD in Tours in 2019 and Dreaming of Porto at the Palacete dos Viscondes de Balsemao in Porto in 2016. His first solo exhibition in Paris, Egyptian Paths, took place at Galerie Charlot in January 2020. A professor at the École Supérieure d'Art et de Design TALM-Tours, Nikolas is also the artistic coordinator of the JUMP- J'ai Un Merveilleux Projet project supported by TALM-Tours, the Centre dramatique national de Tours - Théâtre Olympia, the École Actuelle de Musiques Jazz à Tours and the association ÉCOPIA. Nikolas Chasser Skilbeck is represented by Galerie Charlot based in Paris and Tel Aviv.
